Everyone leads a busy life; it is just a common way to live today. Unfortunately that translates into too many people relying on convenience food, otherwise known as heavily processed, bad for you food rather than the foods that make up a clean eating diet. This leaves us prone to many more diseases, illnesses and problems, including fatigue, organ failure and premature aging. The good news is that it is easy to eat clean and still live your busy lifestyle with a few simple changes.
Choose Fruit over their Processed Alternatives
Sure there are many choices at the grocery store that claim to be filled with 1 or more servings of fruit. This includes fruit juices, canned fruit, fruit pastries or cookies and a variety of other products. What the package of these products does not say is that they are also loaded with large amounts of sugar, preservatives and additives that are harmful to your body and that the nutritional value of those products is almost null and void. Even if you eat on the go, you can grab a whole piece of fruit just as easily as you can grab a prepackaged snack. The main difference is that you will be giving your body incredible nutrients rather than harmful chemicals that are putting it at harm.
Are you still not convinced or are you having a hard time understanding how a piece of fruit can satisfy your hunger or craving when you are in a rush? When you have the time to sit and truly enjoy a piece of fruit, take your time eating it. Pay close attention to how it looks, feels and tastes. Truly take in each flavor of the fruit and enjoy it. Do you get that same enjoyment from processed food? You might think that you are, but if you pay close attention you will see that you only taste the overly sweet taste of these products, which your taste buds have been trained to look for and possibly even become addicted to. You are missing the truly good flavors of whole, clean foods. Make a more concerted effort to choose whole fruit over these processed items and watch your cravings change and your body react in a positive way in a short amount of time.
You do not have to resort to making meals from scratch, slaving over a hot stove for hours on end in order to eat clean. If you learn how to read labels carefully, you can purchase products that only contain whole ingredients, yet can be cooked in a short amount of time. When you read labels on food products at the grocery store, if there are words that you cannot pronounce, then you should not buy that product. Whole, natural ingredients will be words that you easily recognize and can pronounce. This means that you can purchase prepackaged sauces, breads and pastas, as long as you take the time to read the labels and buy the versions with whole, real ingredients as opposed to the processed, fake ingredients that harm your body.
A clean eating diet does not have to be hard work or a major transformation to the way that you eat. If you make a list of your favorite foods, it is very possible that you will be able to find clean alternatives at the grocery store. For example, instead of apple pastries, choose a whole apple and instead of highly processed, low nutrition white bread, choose whole grain bread with only natural ingredients, to name a few. Have fun eating clean and enjoy the numerous benefits that your body will experience as a result.
